funeral link was born out of the community
For many years there has been concern, both at national and local level that escalating funeral costs exacerbate funeral poverty.
This persuaded the Scottish Government to commission “The Cost of Saying Goodbye” report in 2015 and at a local level in Dundee, the formation of the Dundee Funeral Poverty Action Group who commissioned research into funeral poverty in the city. Building on the pioneering initiative of this group, funeral link was registered as a Charity in November 2018 and officially opened for business Friday 1st March 2019, offering confidential support and helping the bereaved in Dundee save money on all things funeral.

With no direct link to Dundee City Council or local funeral directors our independent support is focused entirely on those who need our help. Conversations are confidential and at a time of bereavement we promise to treat everyone with kindness, compassion and understanding. Although our primary aim is to reduce funeral poverty, our service is open to everyone who currently lives or whose loved one has died in Dundee.
